About Stephanie
I received my Bachelors in Psychology in 2006 from Seattle Pacific University. In 2009 I completed a 200-hour yoga instructor training course through Samadhi Yoga in Seattle. The following year I completed a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology (formerly Mars Hill Graduate School) in Seattle. Presently I teach yoga around the Seattle area, and offer individual, couples, and group counseling in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.
I draw from many sources of wisdom and offer a thoughtful and eclectic approach to therapy based in interpersonal and existential psychotherapy, Hatha yoga, restorative yoga, and mindfulness practices.
I endeavor to provide space for students and clients to begin to become attentive to themselves as whole beings; to listen to how their bodies express emotion and memory, and to allow themselves to work with physical and emotional memories for a greater sense of integration, love, and acceptance for themselves. This creates both an individual sense of vitality, but also improves relationships as individuals learn to relate well with themselves and translate that to their relationships.
Essential to working together as therapist and client is developing and alliance through which to collaboratively address the issues and struggles you bring to the work. I believe that often much of our difficulty in relating with ourselves and others in a healthy, life-giving way, is because of our fear of relationship itself, and our defensiveness to love, no matter how much we believe we desire to be loved and to offer love.
